걔 술 끊었어.는 영어로 He's on the wagon.

be(go) on the wagon은 '술을 끊다' '금주하다'의 뜻으로 쓰인다. 반대로 '끊었던 술을 다시 먹다'는 be(go) off the wagon 이라고 한다.

ex. I once quit drinking, but I'm off the wagon now. (나는 한때 술을 끊었지만 지금은 다시 마신다.)


A: Let's take the boss out for drinks, tonight.
